Arriving in Israel to head the Tel Sheva Excavation project, Dr. Dan Brennan, a contract archaeologist, is asked by a journalist friend (David Halevy) to safekeep tapes containing undeniable proof of Israel's assassination of the military leader of the PLO, Abu Jihad. Before the journalist can publish the story, he is killed in a suspicious auto accident near Washington D.C.

Unknown to Brennan, many forces are at work to keep the story from the public, including the White House that secretly pressured Israel to undertake the assassination. Brennan returns to the States for Halevy's funeral to find himself tangled in a web of deadly intrigue by men who will stop at nothing to suppress the story. It soon becomes apparent that the Joshua Brotherhood, an Israeli secret society, hired an international assassin to kill his friend and now threatens his life.

The terror begins his transformation into a courageous, even heroic man who must fight insurmountable odds to save his own life and destroy Joshua. Enlisting the aid of Mossad, they expose the Janus-faces of Joshua's eminent and revered members, thus shocking the Israeli nation to its core.

Returning home to Devil's Elbow Island, Dan Brennan, an archaeologist, is asked by the local sheriff to assist in a murder investigation. The victim, a wealthy collector of ancient Greek artifacts, was found shot to death in his Hilton Head home during an apparent robbery. Although the police know a portion of his collection was stolen, they cannot determine what artifacts are missing. Using his knowledge of archaeology to identify the missing objects, Brennan begins a worldwide search for the artifacts, which he believes will lead to the murderer. The victim's beautiful young wife and Brennan pair up in a whirlwind adventure into the sinister and dangerous world of stolen art. Mistakenly believing the treasure was the Jewels of Helen, he discovers it is another Greek treasure, previously unknown to exist. Marked for death by an assassin, he barely manages to survive but emerges even more determined to catch the elusive culprit.
